fund has no restrictions on demographics. Recipient families must have a child with cancer or a birth defect. The fund has helped families with housing costs, rents, mortgage, computers to help with schoolwork, a summer camp to give the family a break, and many other things that help a family overcome the devastation of the dreaded diagnosis. Xtramart serves as the fund’s primary continuance. Xtramart employees refer to the Jennifer Creed families that have children with cancer or birth defects. The employees donate completely all of their time, and come up with a great imagination when it comes to fund raising. But the big event is the golf tournament. Each year it brings in more than before! Started in 1986, the fund has received more than $900,000 dollars from Xtramart!
These funds have provided those small things like a parking voucher to help mommy or daddy park so they can make that extra trip after work to see their sick child. Or a small allowance to eat close by while visiting. When funds are tight, things like this can’t always be afforded.
Funds also help the families with financial burdens. Insurance does not cover the transportation or travel for treatment to a Boston hospital, or a critically ill child who has been there for weeks. who been there for weeks

Xtramart was introduced to the Jennifer Creed Fund almost twenty years ago. The union was a perfect match. Each year Xtramart stores and gas stations raise money to help the Jennifer Creed Fund through store promotions and a summer golf tournament. The Creed/Xtramart partnership has enabled the Jennifer Creed Fund to utilize Xtramart’s marketing capability and beyond. This |

fast developing symptoms of a brain tumor. Following brain surgery and other tests, she was diagnosed as leukemic. Subsequently, she had several prolonged hospital admissions until her death in January of |

1974. These 15 months can be best summed up as life of anguish, turmoil and suffering for the Creeds. Ed and Mabel Creed wanted the fund that was set up to continue helping others the way it was set up to help them. |
